Take these actions now
This checklist is guidance, not a tracking result. Availability of device actions depends on prior setup, permissions, connectivity, and the services supported by the phone.
How to use this recovery plan
Start with personal safety, then work through the checklist in order. Device-finding services can be useful, but no website can guarantee a current location. Google Find My Device and SafeMyPhone features depend on the device, account access, network connectivity, prior configuration, and required Android permissions. A location may be old, approximate, or unavailable.
Keep screenshots, timestamps, alert emails, the device model, serial number, and IMEI together. This record can help a mobile carrier, bank, employer, insurer, or local authority understand what happened. Do not post recovery keys, verification answers, live locations, or account details publicly.

Lost phone recovery wizard FAQs
Can SafeMyPhone track any lost Android phone?
No. SafeMyPhone cannot retroactively track an arbitrary phone. Recovery features require the app to have been installed and configured before the loss, the relevant permissions to remain available, and the device to have the connectivity needed to send data. Android or manufacturer restrictions may also affect results.
Should I confront someone who may have my phone?
No. Do not personally confront a suspected thief, enter private property, or travel alone to a location shown by a device service. Move to safety, preserve the information you have, and contact local authorities when the circumstances justify it.
Does the wizard send my answers to SafeMyPhone?
The basic wizard saves progress using local storage in your browser. Analytics events identify the wizard step and interaction, not the selected answer. A shared result link contains only checklist item identifiers, not the answers you entered.
What should I do if the phone is offline?
Secure important accounts, call the carrier, suspend the SIM if appropriate, collect the IMEI, and record the incident. You may be able to request a lock or recovery message through a supported service, but the command normally cannot reach the device until it reconnects.
